Asturmet — Weather Data at Scale

A fast, content-rich weather platform for Asturias, built on Next.js.

Asturmet, weather data at scale, rendered fast

Asturmet is a weather platform for Asturias built to stay fast while serving a lot of data: high-resolution map layers, a fourteen-day hourly forecast, and a steady stream of editorial content.

The Challenge

Weather sites live or die on speed and data density. The site had to render heavy map layers and long forecast tables without feeling slow, and let the team publish news without touching code.

What I Built

I designed and built the front end in Next.js and React: interactive AEMET map layers, an hour-by-hour forecast view, and a CMS-driven news section. The public weather data comes from AEMET; the interface, the interactions and the performance work are mine.

Maps and forecast

High-resolution layers and a fourteen-day, hour-by-hour forecast, rendered to stay smooth on phones.

Content from the CMS

The team publishes news straight from the CMS, with no deploys and no developer in the loop.

The Result

A content-rich weather site with interactive map layers, an hour-by-hour fourteen-day forecast and a CMS-driven news section, built in Next.js and React. It started on WordPress and I am migrating it to React as it grows.
